Indian Music Workshops

Indian Dan

Indian Music is often organised in time cycles (Talas), where accented beats are repeated. Melodies(ragas) are improvised over the top using a short set of notes on tuned instruments, like the Sitar. A ‘Drone’ is usually played throughout the piece of music (often on a tampoura).

In these workshops you:

Learn to play different ‘strokes’ on the Tabla and Madal drums.

Learn about Indian instruments and their function within a Raga.

Learn to perform different Talas and accompany with a drone (time cycles).

Improvise using tuned percussion ‘The Rag’  melody line.
