Samba is one of the most popular forms of music in Brazil. Its infectious party rhythms can be heard on the streets each year during carnival. Its syncopated beats are led by a mestre (master) who conducts the different instruments of the samba band including the big surdo drum and the tiny cavaqino guitar. This is topped off by sublime vocal melodies with songs about local culture, people and nature. Music and rhythm from the heart to make you smile.
In these workshops children practice and perform different Samba rhythms, first using their voices and then on the different Samba drums. Then the whole piece is put together to create a carnival atmosphere.
